Patterns for
Spring/summer
After
waiting around for weeks the spring weather is finally upon us so that means
its time to start embracing the best spring trends – because lets face it there
is never an excuse to not do a bit of shopping!
And if there is one trend that we are getting excited about at MizEllie
it is the trend for patterns – whether it is stripes or checkerboards there
were a number of gorgeous patterned outfits on the catwalks. What's more it is
a perfect look to recreate the look at home.
Stripes
On
the spring/summer 2013 catwalks the designers were certainly walking the line
and taking a linear approach to their designs with bold stripes, chevrons and
even zig-zags. On the Moschino and Dolce
& Gabbana runway it was about horizontal and vertical stripes in bold
bright colours or in the colour scheme of the season – monochrome (a look which
Strictly star Chelsee Healey has recently been spotted in, while DJ Fearne
Cotton has been seen in a green stripped dress). While at Marc Jacobs it was
all about playing with the optical illusions and patterns using stripes – in
fact he had long, curved stripes and optical patterns creating a great effect.
When worn in the right way stripes can help make you look slimmer so they are
perfect for the summer.
However,
if you don’t want to wear all over stripes then you can take inspiration from
the Etro or Marc Jacobs catwalk where the models were seen carrying gorgeous
striped clutch bags in sexy blacks and whites (perfect for the evening).
Therefore, striped women's handbags are the perfect way to channel the trend
and look like you are a true fashionista.
Chequerboard
Another
key trend was bold, dramatic chequerboards which were seen on a number of
catwalks - including Chanel, Marni and Alexis Mabille but it was Louis Vuitton
who dominated this trend with the models coming down escalators in bold graphic
outfits in citrus colours and mustard yellows. The designer mixed up squares in
different sizes as well as varying up fabrics to achieve a bold dramatic look –
the even had shoulder bags in gorgeous checked designs.
Polka dots
Another
big pattern trend was the humble polka dot with Giorgio Armani, Chanel and
Haider Ackermann all showcasing the trend on the catwalks. While it has been embraced by a number of
celebs including Jessica Alba, Nicky Hilton and
Heidi Klum and most recently Michelle
Williams who
attended the Kate Young For Target party in a sheer polka dot top. It's a great
look for spring and one of the perfect ways of achieving it is with great
women's handbags which can add a cute addition to your outfit.
