MizEllie's Festival Fashion Guide

Ok we know that the fabled spring weather has only just made an appearance and summer feels very far away but we can now officially say that it is festival season! No we haven't gone insane here at MizEllie Coachella has kicked off marking the official start of festival season. The Southern Californian show got into full swing on April 11thand every celeb worth their salt will be making an appearance at the event.

While the UK festival season has yet to truly kick off here in the UK it's still the perfect time to start thinking about that all important festival wardrobe. Gone are the days when at events like Glastonbury you could turn up in your best hippy garb and then not care what you looked like. Instead, festival season has turned into a catwalk giving people the chance to show off their best boho chic looks.
What's more with celebs like Kate Moss, Emma Watson and Katy Perry all famous festival goers it can make us mere mortals feel like we have to compete. However, as anyone who has been to a festival can testify packing the right clothes into a rucksack and when you add in the fact that you are going to be living in a tent and not washing for days it's hard to look perfect but we at MizEllie want you to look great this festival season so here's our guide to getting through the summer in true boho style.

Pack for the weather

When it comes to festivalling layering has to be your best friend because you have no way of escaping the elements (unless off course you are glamping it up in a fancy Yurt!) So if you are in Britain make sure you take your mac and wellies so you can deal with any downpours. Also layer up your pretty summer dresses and shorts with thin jumpers and tops because let's face it as much as we all daydream about tripping round the fields in a floaty summery haze – it is likely to rain and there is nothing worse than being drenched all day.
It's also a good idea to go for layers of lightweight fabric as it will dry more quickly and don't take anything that you don't mind getting muddy or can't clean again. Layers are also great as when it gets hot you can discard them and if they are light won't be too heavy to carry and make sure you bring a hat for sun and rain. While if you are festivalling somewhere like Spain you will need lightweight clothes to give you some protection from the sun.

Accessories are your new best friend

With limited space to pack, one of the simplest ways of making your outfit look suitably boho is with accessories.  Costume and fashion jewellery is small and lightweight but will instantly perk up an outfit, while fashion handbags are a must have because you will need something other than your rucksack to carry around during the day. Just make sure it closes up and a shoulder bag is a good idea as you will want to keep your hands free to carry your pint and dance around.  Here at MizEllie we also always take neck scarves with us when go to a festival as they can be worn round the neck as a boho accessory one the first day and can then be used as a head scarf when your hair is need of a wash and not looking it's best!
