Get Monochrome Madness This Spring

This season if there is one colour trend that you need to follow it has to be monochrome. Not only was it massive on the catwalks (with shows at Paris Fashion week earlier this month showing off the trend) but it has also been seen on a number of celebs including the ever stylish Kate Middleton, Kim Kardashian, Jessica Alba, Nicole Richie, and Naomi Watts.

The Duchess of Cambridge has been showing us how to look uber stylish when pregnant and here at MizEllie we love the monochrome outfit she wore to an event at the office of Child Bereavement in London. She paired a chic black dress with a stunning white coat that showed just a hint of that famous bump! While Naomi Watts hit the FROW in Paris wearing an all-white ensemble with black pointy court shoes and perhaps the second most famous pregnant woman around - Kim Kardashian - was seen out and about in LA with a black and white 60s inspired dress.

What’s more it’s also incredibly fashion forward as the monochrome look was spotted on more than one autumn/winter 2013 show.

It model of the moment Cara Delevingne walked the Vanessa Bruno show in a black and white mini dress with silver heels while at the Versace A/W 13 shows the models went down the runway in a white crop top and a black pencil skirt with a split up the side.

The great thing about monochrome is that it is so easy to wear as most of us have a few key pieces in our wardrobe which are in black and white. The key is to keep your whole outfit chic and simple in just the two colours. If you want to add in a bit of colour then do so with your accessories so you can add brightly coloured shoes or a bright tote. Or for a chic look and one which channels the 1960s, which is a great decade to look to for inspiration on the monochrome look as they did it so well, why not add  brightly coloured women’s scarves to your outfit which will be stunning and dramatic. Of course you can do what Naomi Watts did and keep your look all white or black and add in accents in the opposite tone - so if you wear a white shift dress you can add in black shoes, a black bag and black scarves for women and do the same for a LBD only keep your accents in white.

While when it comes to patterns spots and stripes are perfect for monochrome and add interest to your outfit without adding any colour.
