OK we know we are in the middle of a heatwave and summer is
in full swing but that doesn’t mean that it’s too early to start thinking about
what to wear next season. The autumn/winter catwalks were full of great design
inspiration but there was one trend that really caught our eye for next season
– pretty pink hues. There is something quite fun and flirty about cute girly
pinks and what’s more it is a really versatile colour so whatever your
colouring you can get away with it. So how should you wear pink this
autumn/winter or even get ahead of the fashion curve this year?
One of the big trends on the autumn/winter catwalks was a womanly
allure and head to toe pink is a great way of channelling that trend. Seen on
the catwalks of Lanvin, Nina Ricci, Jonathan Saunders, Armani, Christian Dior
and Miu Miu, to name just a few, pink is
the perfect way to brighten up even the darkest winter days and will add a splash
of colour to even the dullest outfit.
How to wear it?
The great thing about pink is it is such a versatile colour
as you can either wear it head to toe or as an accent colour. You could take
inspiration from Lanvin and Nina Ricci and wear it a gorgeous rose tinted
cocktail dress – and what’s more you will stand out in a sea of Little Black
Dresses which is always good.
Another fabulous take on the trend was seen at Celine, Miu
Miu and Mulberry where the models went down the catwalk in amazing winter coats
which made us want to head straight out and buy a fab pink coat and what’s more
it makes a change from our usual wintery hued coats. In fact here at MizEllie
we reckon it would cheer us up just too look at a great pink coat.
If pale roses and pinks aren’t your style then that doesn’t
mean you can’t channel the trend instead look to Jonathan Saunders for
inspiration where he teamed a red pencil skirt with a pink jumper which is a
more grown up take on the look. Or why not try Simone Rocha’s version of the
trend where there were two piece suits in a bright pink almost coral colour. If
you want to just put touches of pink into your autumn wardrobe then you can’t
go far wrong teaming it with soft greys and blacks.
However, if there is one catwalk look that we lusted after
it was at Miu Miu where the models were wearing spotty neck scarves with their
outfits. The coloured women’s scarves broke up the all pink outfits and added a
chic yet edgy look to the ensemble – we loved it.
