Vintage Jewellery: The Latest Trend is Truly Timeless

Who doesn’t love vintage jewellery?

Whether we’re talking about vintage-look fashion jewellery, or the “real thing,” vintage jewellery adds a note of interest and personal taste to whatever ensemble you put together. And it’s a trend that is showing no signs of slowing down – vintage is everywhere you look.

Generally speaking, vintage refers to jewellery made between the 1930s and 1980s, which accounts for a lot of different styles. Some of the most popular vintage looks these days reference the 1960s and 1970s, and anything that consciously copies designs from the second half of the last century is often just called “retro.” 

There are hundreds of sub-categories of vintage to pick from, which makes choosing a vintage piece to accent your outfit even more fun.  There are no rules on how to put them together, either; wear one, three or five pieces layered together – vintage jewellery is incredibly flexible in terms of mixing styles. As long as the jewellery looks great and has a fabulous vintage design, that’s what counts!

Classic vintage jewellery designs can go for a small fortune on the antiques market, even items from ten or twenty years ago. Fortunately we don’t have to resort to rummaging through our Mum’s jewellery box for things to wear, either. There’s a whole new generation of vintage-look jewellery in the world now, created by modern designers, often exact replicas of jewellery that’s rare or impossible to find today. And of course these new jewellery designs are much more affordable than many old pieces, and often utilize better-quality materials and new components that have never been available until now.

At MizEllie we admit to spending a little too much time going through all our new vintage jewellery finds, because there are so many types and colours of stones being used, along with interesting feathers, shells and beads from all over the world. We just wish you could look through them with us, it’s so much fun! But at least you can have an idea of the experience by browsing through our shop.
